Okay, so I’m probably way behind the times here on this announcement, but for those of you who still don’t know yet, it looks like the HCSB second edition study Bible will not be released for a while:

Never could get used to HCSB. No fault of the HCSB though.

Tried ESV too and wished I hadn’t. Waste of money there getting one for each family member.

I use NKJV and NASB sometimes. MacArthur Study Bible NKJV actually.

In an email I received from Dr. Ed Blum, the release date on the HCSB 2e will not be until 2010. They are hoping for a Study Bible to be released (hopefully)in Feb or March 2010, and the other editions in the fall 2010.

    Blessings,
    WF

Did Mr. Blum explain why the delay? I’ve grown very fond of the HCSB and want to make it my primary bible. When I invest money I want to make sure it’ll be the current edition for some time; the one study tools are built around. So why throw $50-$75 at The Apologetics Study Bible if its not going to be replaced with a new edition for almost another year? I’m subsisting on a copy of the Light Speed Bible so perhaps you understand my urgency.

Jerry, apparently they are aware of some marketing issues, so they will be trying to educate the public a little more about the translation before releasing the updated edition.

Just out of curiosity Will, would you happen to know if a couple of Apologetic Study Bibles (ISBN’s 1586405101 & 1586405098) might be second editions releases?

Well, I would prefer they take their time and get it right then release it prematurely. Perhaps they made the right call.

Though it looks as though the NET may be updating in 2010 as well. Interesting.
